My kids love to eat Vada Pav and I prefer to bake fresh soft homemade pav or dinner rolls for them. I already have shared the recipe of vada pav and garlic chutney to go with it. Today I’m sharing the recipe of homemade fresh pav or bun…
Make and enjoy them along with the heavenly fresh baked bread aroma that fills the entire house. My kids cant stop themselves from eating them , fresh out of oven.
- 1¼ cup warm milk
- 2 tsp sugar
- 8 grams dry yeast
- 3 cup maida / plain flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
In a bowl, take warm milk, yeast and sugar. mix with a spoon and leave it for 5-10 mins for yeast to bloom. If using activated instant yeast, add the yeast, salt and sugar directly to Maida or flour.
In a big bowl, take 3 cup maida and ½ tsp salt. Add, the bloomed yeast and milk liquid.
Knead until the dough turns soft, about 10 mins to develop gluten.
Then add 2 tbsp butter and knead the dough. the dough will be oily but knead to incorporate the butter in the dough.
Cover with cling wrap or cloth and rest for 2 hours in a warm place.
After 2 hours, the dough will have doubled. Punch the dough and knead it slightly to remove air.
Divide the dough in 12 equal shaped balls. Place the balls into a greased tray. place them leaving equal space in between and touching each other.
Brush the dough lightly with milk. Cover with a cling film and rest the dough for another 40 -60 mins for second rise.
- Bake in a pre heated oven at 180 degree celcius for 20 minutes, or until the it turns golden brown from top.
Once out of the oven, rub with butter to get a shiny look. Cover with a wet cloth to get a super soft cloth and allow to cool completely.
The pav are ready to be relished with vada pav, pav bhaji, butter or just like that whenever you feel like.
Hope you enjoy baking and eating them. Bon appetit …
